Hospi Corporation's Facility Clinician Training can help clinicians at facilities work with their hospice team partners to improve symptom management for complex end-of-life patients by using the Macy Catheter for medication and fluid administration.
Catherine S. Dehlin RN, BSN, CHPN, CHCM, COQS–Vice President of Clinical Services at Hospi–teaches clinicians how and when to use the Macy Catheter and covers the benefits of administering medication via the rectal route.
Nurses will receive a certificate in Macy Catheter Training after completing the competency exam and course evaluation.
- At the completion of this training, the participant will be able to demonstrate proper Macy Catheter placement and medication administration via the catheter.
- At the completion of this training, the participant will be able to verbalize how the Macy Catheter can offer the quickest symptom management possible when sublingual and oral medication fails.
- At the completion of this training, the participant will be able to list the contraindications and steps for troubleshooting when using the Macy Catheter.
